What is full mouth cosmetic reconstruction?
The art of full mouth cosmetic reconstruction involves:
- Corrective phase
- Maintenance/preventive phase
Diagnostic phase involves a thorough examination at which all the component of an ideal dentition will be addressed: i.e., periodontal health, inter and intra-arch relationship, the temporomandibular joint and muscular function, the health and function of the existing restorations, and finally, the pathological oral habits. This is the phase where all the records and measurement are taken. If we fail to plan, we will plan to fail.
The corrective phase is where all the questions in the diagnostic phase will be answered. It is where the periodontal health will be reinstituted, the close-to- ideal occlusion can be established, and finally, the functional and esthetic components of the dentition will be restored. In many situation, it involves periodontal therapy, orthodontic therapy, implants, crown and bridges.
