Implant/Dental Surgery Implant dentistry is one of the alternative to replace missing teeth. It is strongly suggested over the removables option due to the advantage in force distribution, optimal occlusion, bone preservation, and ease of oral hygiene. When performed correctly, implant easily can last a lifetime. Implant dentistry involves two main component, the surgical phase which the implant is placed into the bone to replace the tooth root, and the prosthetic phase of which the abutment and the restoration are placed to mimic the tooth crown. Tthe surgical phase involved complex bone and soft tissue graft to ensure the functional and esthetic longevity of the implants. In many Dr. Bui's case, Platelet Rich Plasma was harvested and used in conjunction with bone graft. Bone particles can be autograft which were harvested from the chin, the ramus, or may be an allograft (bone particle from other species) or synthetic graft. In many case, human freezed dried demineralizing bone graft can also be used (dFDBA).
